Wordful Wednesday: the first baseman and the hiney catcher

Y'all have heard me talk about how my life has been revolving around little league for the past several weeks.  The games finally ended last week though I think boy number one may now be playing on the all-stars team though my sources have not yet confirmed nor denied this so we will have to wait and see if it will continue to rule my summer or not.

He played first base for the whole season and really liked it though you wouldn't know it from this pic.  He tends to keep his excitement on the inside.  I've no idea who he gets that from. Certainly not me! Okay, that was a lie...he totally gets it from me.

And here is the lefty up to bat.  Why he bats left-handed has always been a mystery because he does everything else with his right.

And the Dracenator!  This was his first year of actual baseball.  He played tee-ball the two years before.  He started out in the outfield though he seemed more interested in the grass, sky and passing cars than he did in the ballgame that was in progress around him...

In his defense, this did float over the field at one of his games...

And then after a few games, a magical thing happened and they made him catcher.  Suddenly, he was no longer only interested in batting...

The boy likes constant action (I don't call him the Dracenator for nothin'). I don't think he got the complete list of job responsibilities for a catcher but come hell or high water, he was gonna stay in his position behind home plate and get that ball back to the coach pitcher.  He could not have possibly gotten his skinny butt any closer to the ground without touching it which is why C nicknamed him
THE HINEY CATCHER!

Little League...gotta love it!

  3. That is such a great post! I wouldn't want to be stuck in the field when I could be doing something more constructive like being catcher! I would rather look at a hot air balloon also then stand in the hot sun waiting for the ball to fly my way! He, he, he! Have a great day!

  8. Love that last picture! Too cute.
I remember growing up at the softball fields. There were 7 girls and one boy in my family and we were at the fields all summer!
I was catcher...not a very good one...my older sister was awesome. But I loved it too because I could talk silly smack to the batters. It was great fun!
