A Few Things...

I first suspected a problem this morning when I saw that he'd only eaten one of his Eggo waffles. He's a thirteen year old boy.  He's always hungry. Teenage boys, I'm quickly learning, are bottomless pits which is why I never get out of the grocery store without my buggy piled so sky high it probably appears as though I'm stockpiling for the apocalypse.   The cashiers love me. Anyway, what I was getting at is that I'm afraid the stomach bug has possibly claimed its next victim here at our house because although Devin sometimes feels a little nauseous first thing in the morning, it never goes so far as him not finishing every bite on his breakfast plate.

He's currently tucked under his covers with his ginger ale on the nightstand and lined bucket beside the bed...just in case. I'm hoping it won't come to that but if he has what I had, it is only a matter of time.  I just hope he's well by Thursday and that Charlie doesn't get hit because we are supposed to head for the coast Thursday morning since school is out for two teacher workdays the end of the week and we didn't take a beach trip over the summer and the mighty sea is calling my name.  I need a fix.

I also need to do laundry, clean the house, start packing and attempt to bring some sense of order back to my closet. Because yes, I have done it again.  My closet is completely out of control.  I'm talking so out of control that it frightens me to open the door.  I went in to get a shirt this morning and barely made it back out alive.  It's beginning to look a lot like hoarder in there.  Seriously. What is my problem?

Charlie has witnessed me spend hours and hours on that closet, time and time again, and is always impressed when I emerge from battle with a closet that could have been organized by a certified closet organizer.  (Not that I would know if there really is a such thing as a "certified" closet organizer.) I love it like that.  So much so that I go in just to admire my hard work. Why I can't keep it that way for any extended period of time is completely beyond my comprehension.  For years I would lie to myself  each time I organized it.  I'm going to keep it this way forever and ever this time....Just you wait and see!

I have since gotten to know myself better.  Now I take a picture so it'll last longer.  If you've been reading this blog for any length of time, you've most likely seen one or two of them which is why I'm not going to show them to you again now.  It would just hurt my feelings to look at them right now anyway.

What I am going to show you though are a few new things I'm loving right now....

This teal nail polish.  I went to Target last week (the day before the bug showed up) and remembered that I had recently seen/read somewhere that navy is one of the hot new nail polish colors right now so I was searching for that.  Although I didn't find a navy I thought I could live with, I fell in love with this deep teal shade that is now chipping off my fingernails.  Add that to my list of things I must do today...

Go Overboard by Essie  It looks a little darker than this in person and I wasn't sure if I'd like it as much once it was on but so far I'm loving it.  Perfect for fall.

Old Navy Boot-Cut Cords  I have a few pairs of the colored skinny jeans that are so popular right now but sometimes I'm just not feeling skinny and I'm finding it harder and harder to find a good pair of pants/jeans that aren't skinnies which is why I was thrilled to find these babies.  They are so soft, comfy and best of all...forgiving.  I highly recommend them.

This memoir by Buffi Neal that I just recently finished on my Kindle.  This is her first book and I just love her.  Can't wait for her second!  She has such a gift for storytelling and made me feel like I'd known her for years.  If you're looking for a good read, this is it.

Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector I've always had the dark circles problem, even when I was a kid.  I've been told it's genetic.  Whatever.  I've been using this stuff for a few weeks now and while I don't think it's possible to completely get rid of them, I can definitely tell a difference!  I'm hooked.

These wrap bracelets on etsy  I came across these the other day and my mouth is practically watering over them.  I want.  There are different styles and colors but I like this one because it would go with anything.

This quote   Truer words were never spoken.  Believe it.

By the way, Sirius Black is a fictional character from the Harry Potter books so really, shouldn't this quote be attributed to J.K. Rowling?  Just thought I'd clear that up.

Happy Tuesday,

  4. I can't bring myself to buy some of the colored skinny jeans.

We haven't had a stomach bug, but me and one of the kiddo's have had a serious lingering sinus infection. I mean, the drink cough medicine type! Gross! However, I finally decided to try to run today. So, I think I'm over my sinus infection after a week, antibiotics and bottle of cough medicine.

Have fun at the beach:) I'm jealous.

  6. Whenever I wear funky/dark/blue nailpolish shades I'll look at my hands and think...corpse.
Maybe I'm too old to pull it off.
    Hope Devin feels better soon!

  7. I'll have to check out those cords from Old Navy...I definitely could use a pair of comfy jeans! Being sick is the absolute pits, so praying your boy is feeling better real soon! Wish I could wear pretty nail polish like that, but it just doesn't look good on me. Bummer!
