I realize I have not done a Fancy Friday post in awhile so in the spirit of the season, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite things with y'all. Just don't go gettin' all crazy squealy on me because I'm no Oprah and will not be giving away an iPad or a car at the end of this post.

Y'all know how I love my redbirds, right? I bought this necklace on etsy almost a year ago and it is still one of my very favorite things to wear around my neck. This seller has some other really cute stuff too!

I do not have this but I came across it at Plow and Hearth when I was doing some online Christmas shopping. Call me old fashioned if you must, but I want one of these in a bad way...
Straight Sexy Hair Smooth & Seal
I don't know what I ever did before I discovered this stuff. Seriously. Nothing can tame my big hair frizz better than this. I spray a little on (sometimes a lot, when it's really humid) before I dry or straighten my hair and it works wonders!
Willow Tree Nativity Set
I showed a picture on here last year of my Willow Tree Nativity that is currently out on my mantle. I had always wanted a nativity set and when I saw this one years ago, I knew it was the one. Darin bought it for me that year and gave it to me on Christmas morning (the day before he left this earth). Marraceck Curtains
I think I showed these curtains on here once but that was like a year ago, wasn't it? I just had to include them again here in my favorite things because although I fretted and sweated a bit before breaking down and spending the money for these at Anthro, I have not regretted it once. They are great quality and hang in my dining room. They were exactly what I was looking for when I didn't even know what I was looking for!

Charlene is getting this one though of course it will say "Charlene" and not "Sugar" though there was a little Dachshund named Sugar in our lives for a very long time who belonged to my inlaws Bob and Pat. She was going on 17 when she died in 2009.
La Mer Wrap Watches
I know I've shown y'all these watches before but I could not do a Favorite Things post without including this. Apparently I am not the only one who loves them because I've gotten more comments/compliments on mine than anything I've ever owned. I'm not even a big watch person normally but I love this thing!
And I'm sure I could go on and on with this post but none of us have all day so I will leave it here. I know y'all probably thought I was going to include Nutella and I thought about it, I really did. But I want you to know that I went to the grocery store yesterday and did not buy a jar. I'm quite proud of that accomplishment!

So far this week I have survived report card day, a runaway wiener dog who managed to get by me and hightail it to the woods twice in one day while shouting "Freebird!" (okay, I imagined that freebird part) and shopping with the boys.
Report card day went fairly well. This year is Dracen's first year receiving actual grades which is a huge relief to me because I always felt like I needed special training to decode those progress reports in grades K thru 2. And aside from a 91 (which is a B) in Language Arts, he had all A's. According to his teacher he is mathematically inclined which baffles me since I have always butted heads with math myself and Darin was a Psych major. I suppose not all things are hereditary.
I'm just thankful Charlie is here to help with math homework or I would have had to hire a math tutor by now. I tend to get a little nauseous and break out into a cold sweat when Devin comes to me for help with his math homework. And he's currently only a seventh grader.
A seventh grader who is now wearing an 8 and a half in men's shoes. His feet are now bigger than mine. And I am so happy to report that the shopping trip I braved with both boys yesterday afternoon was a success because the red Addidas are no more! He found a pair of blue Nikes that he thought he could live with. Now if I could just get him to stop wearing those black dress socks with them.
He tried to tell Dracen last week that a shirt I wanted him to wear to church was not cool. I informed him it was "in style" and he then had the audacity to challenge my fashion skills and question how I knew what was in style. The nerve!

Last week I told y'all it was picture day at the elementary school. I managed to talk Dracen into moving one step up from a t-shirt to a polo for the big day. Something I don't think I've been able to get his brother to do since preschool.
And speaking of his brother... Since he is in middle school this year they are on completely different schedules with everything, including picture day. I interrogated him about it last week and he informed me that his was coming up and he already had the form in his locker at school. You have to pay up front. And whether they smile, frown, or stick their tongues out I am going to have me a picture to document every year of their K through 12 public school educations.
Wednesday morning I just happened to see on facebook that picture day was the next day so I went straight to the refrigerator and made a note with my big arse mom Sharpie so I would not forget. And I did not forget.
"Devin, I saw on facebook (he always cringes when he hears those words come out of my mouth) that picture day is tomorrow. Where is your form?"
"In my binder", he replied. "Well, where exactly is your binder?" I snapped back.
And he gives me the saucer eyes and the Ohhh crap, I'm in deep horse doo doo now! look and says, ever so sheepishly, "In my locker. At school."
I threatened to revoke his electronic privileges if he did not phone, text, or facebook a friend to find out some information about who was taking those pictures. I had to then remind him two more times to do this but what with all my other mom duties around here, I completely forgot to question him a third time until after he was in bed.
Yesterday morning I questioned him a final time and of course he had not found out anything at all about the pictures. "Nobody else is buying any!" was the answer I got. "Since when do I care what everybody else is doing?!" I shot back. "I WANT A PICTURE...AN 8 BY 10 TO GO ON THE WALL TO REPLACE THE ONE FROM LAST YEAR!"
So I did what any good mother would do. I put on my best house shoes, rolled my hair up tight in rollers, drove to the school and walked with him to his locker (talking and waving to everyone we passed along the way) to get that form filled out.
And if you believe that, then you don't know me at all.
Oh how I wish I had that kind of gumption and lack of shame in my game.
No. Instead I gave him the same amount of money I paid for Dracen's package (assuming it was most likely the same company) and told him that if he did not fill out that form, put that money in it and hand it to that photographer then he could kiss his modern day technological conveniences goodbye. So he did it. But not without informing me that he was the only one in two classes with picture money.
Their parents probably didn't get the memo. Facebook stalking does has its advantages.
And no, he did not wear anything special. I learned a long time ago that we have to choose our battles when it comes to parenting a stubborn child (26 hours of labor followed by a c-section because he just refused to come out). I noticed as I was handing him the money and laying down the law that he was wearing an almost identical American Eagle t-shirt to the one he wore in his picture last year. The biggest difference was the letters. The ones last year were flat and these were embroidered. Or something kinda like it.
Anyway, I did not mean to get off on a mom rant this morning. I really came here to talk about fashion and such. And while I would not wear a shirt with giant letters spelling AMERICAN EAGLE across the front, I would wear this cabled sweater with "American Eagle" on the label inside that is looking very cozy to me this morning since it is a chilly 37 degrees here. Brr!
