Friday Fragments...

~Tonight will be my birthday dinner since last night was consumed by baseball. I'm thinking Red Lobster.  I know it's a chain and all but I'm never disappointed there. I know what I like.

~Devin's game went on FOREVER last night and we didn't get home until a little after 10.  I was baseballed out. But he pitched for the first time ever in his life though he really didn't want to and he has a big cut on the tip of his finger that was wrapped in about four band-aids.  I was proud of him for getting up there and doing it although he was extremely critical of himself.  That apple sure didn't fall far from its mama's tree!

~I fell off the vegetarian wagon last week while we were on spring break.  I ate a little chicken and turkey.  I'm still trying to stay mostly vegetarian but it is not a vegetarian friendly world out there, y'all! At least not around here in these parts.  Or in Pennsylvania parts either, for that matter.

~I went to Target yesterday.  They are right smack dab in the middle of remodeling it which really rained on my Target birthday parade.  I was looking for a fondue pot so we could make some fondue with the rest of that five found Hershey bar Dracen came back with but there was no fondue pot to speak of in the Target.  I just knew Target would have my back on that one but looks like I'll have to turn to my other good friend aka Amazon for help on this one.

~I forgot to record American Idol last night and was a little shocked when I saw the results on facebook since he seemed like a fan favorite.  Sooo much talent on that show this year though. It's anybody's game.

~Speaking of facebook, it's a great place to be on your birthday, isn't it?  I've heard so many people criticize the fact that all these people would have no clue it was your birthday if fb didn't tell them so they view the wishes as insincere. I don't understand that logic at all. It's still kind and thoughtful that they paused for a moment to wish you a happy one.  Always makes me feel appreciative. And a little like a rock star!

~That furniture we ordered for the bonus room that was supposed to arrive in four to six weeks?  They LIED through their stinkin' teeth because it was six weeks over two weeks ago at which time I called to find out where the heck it was.  The lady on the phone said she'd have to look up my order and call me back.  She called me back about an hour later and said that it was delayed because the fabric I picked had not been in stock and it would therefore not be ready until the week of the 18th.  Never got a phone call advising me of this to see if I'd like a different fabric, one in stock, perhaps(which I would have)!  And no apology for the delay.  It's the 20th and still no call and no flippin' furniture.  I'm about to take rare form and go ape sh*t on somebody's arse. Stand back, y'all!

  3. Happy Birthday! My favorite restaurant is Olive Garden. I tend to eat out at places that have 'meatless' dishes. I cannot go to Red Lobster because I am allergic to seafood. It is hard to eat vegertain style. Not many places cater to it. When they do, it's not much of a choice.
My son used to play baseball. I miss it!

  4. Way to go Devin!!

I'm hot and cold on Red Lobster. I've been and loved it and had nights when it just plain stunk. They are building a new one in Matthews so I cant wait to try it out.

Ordering furniture is hit and miss as well. And they wonder why the industry suffers. Communicate people.

We had ordered a Jetton sofa and loveseat. It was a great experience. They even invited us up to see it being made.

    Rock on!!

  5. Happy Birthday to you!!!! I like Red Lobster. I think you can;t go wrong with a chain restaurant, you know what you're going to get. In my opinion.

I would go ape crap too! That is just ridiculous!! They owe you something, in addition to a BIG apology. Yeesh. What happened to customer service?

  6. Ordering furniture NEVER goes as planned. Why is that? I hate it! I hope you have the best birthday dinner either. I ALWAYS choose the Olive Garden for mine. :)

  9. Happy Birthday I know you will have a fun time tonight.
Go git em girl about the furniture! I agree with you about Facebook. It is nice that people do take the time to wish you happy birthday. I know on mine it really makes my day.

  10. Red Lobster sounds like THE place to celebrate...and stuff yourself silly, of course! Nothing is more frustrating to me than being promised that I will get something I've ordered on a certain date, only to have that date come and go with nothing to show for it. I just might have to call the store manager if I were you and have a little "heart-to-heart" talk.

  11. Happy Birthday!

I used to love Red Lobster especially the cheddar bay biscuits. I have found an awesome GF bread recipe that I add a bunch of cheddar cheese to that tastes almost identical.

    Yeah me!

Happy Birthday! (mine's in six days)

I like The Voice, but I think the talent is better on Idol this round.

Thanks for linking up! Have a great weekend :)

  13. Turkey and chicken have been my diet staple...when I'm well I never want to see another piece of poultry again.
I'm all about the meat baby.
I haven't been to red lobster in ages. Seriously. I should go...not now...that butter would kill me.
And boo on the furniture people!!

  14. I really don't understand the bias so many people have against chain restaurants. They became a chain because they had good food-isn't that a good thing! Love those Red Lobsters biscuits! I accept birthday wishes gladly-who cares if they were set because of a reminder. I often need reminded! Have a good week!

  15. I hope you enjoyed Red Lobster. We also enjoy it there. I don't like seafood but I love their rolls, salad, and spicy cajun pasta dish. Mmmm..

  16. Happy Birthday (again) Hope it was a good one!

I have a 'birthday twin' that I've known since elementary school. Every year on facebook he thanks the 122 friends who wish him a happy birthday and tells the other 224 on his list who did not that they are dead to him... I confess, I look forward to that status update every year... cracks me up!

  17. Belated happy b-day! Hope you got to Red Lobster. I love those cheese biscuits. I'm a vegetarian too, but agree that the carnivores don't make it easy. You have a beautiful blog, and I'm now a follower. So sorry for the loss of your first husband. I can only imagine the wisdom and insight you have gained. God bless you and your family.
